L’homme qui voulait vivre sa vie – Review

Few days ago i was invited by Ulike to the french premiere of the film “The big picture“, also known in french as “L’homme qui voulait vivre sa vie”.
The film was inspired from the book “The big picture” by Douglas Kennedy. It  features people like Romain Duris, Catherine Deneuve, Marina Foïs and Niels Arestrup.

It tells the story of Paul, a very successful lawyer with wife and kids. One day his life falls apart when his wife goes away with another man and he accidentally kills this man. He decides to run away from it all let everyone believe he’s dead and take the identity of the other man…

The film is good because the story is good and the actors are ok. The film was interesting but sometimes it was too slow at certain parts. Maybe it’s just me but i had the feeling the movie could have lasted less than two hours…

According to it’s director who was there during he premiere, the story is not exactly the same as the book because the film would have lasted even longer…

Sometimes i think i should have read the book before watching the film because the story is actually pretty good. As for the film i would give it a 6/7 out of 10. It’s not the best movie ever but it can be watched…

Here below is the trailer followed by a little video from the premiere where i was.
Sorry it’s in french but i couldn’t find an english version for this!
